Recently, Mikhail Korostelev, a mathematician and an amateur photographer in Moscow, during a trip to Kuril Lake, the second largest freshwater lake in the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia, accidentally recorded the scene. Scary and extremely rare, the sight of a giant brown bear tearing apart its fellow human beings right on the lake’s surface.

Kuril Lake has a surface area of 76.6 square kilometers, is the main living area for bears in Kamchatka, it is estimated that there are more than 1,000 bears living in this area. Therefore, the scene of brown bears cannibalism was witnessed by many other bears.

Even though they witnessed it with their own eyes, all the bears on the shore did not take any action to protest or defend the smaller bear. The rule of the strong winning the weak and losing in the wild has been an unwritten rule that has existed since the origin of life.

If not strong, without the ability to protect themselves, all animals can become food for their own kind like this poor little bear.

The brown bear that was attacked and eaten by its brethren was still quite young, according to estimates, probably a juvenile bear, no longer cared for by its mother. Perhaps when he went into the lake to catch fish, he accidentally touched the giant brown bear’s territory and suffered such anger that he lost his life.

When attacked by a giant brown bear, the small bear did not have any chance of survival due to the huge difference in physical strength and experience. In just a short time, it was killed by its own kind.

The phenomenon of bears cannibalism is an extremely rare phenomenon, with almost no records. However, in polar bears, cannibalism is recorded to occur more frequently.

To explain this phenomenon, researchers believe that because polar bears live in the harshest environment in the world, when food sources are scarce, they can devour their fellow animals at any time.

Polar bears often attack, kill, and eat smaller bears because they are hungry and need additional energy.

These bears are even more cruel to their fellow humans than when hunting their prey, making witnesses shudder in fear.
